After several weeks of uncertainty we have received official confirmation of a changes in China's VAT export tax rebate for hundreds of products.  These, together with a number of other measures, form an attempt by the Government to reduce China's growing trade deficit with the rest of the world.

With specific refernce to essential oils and aroma chemicals, the export rebate will change from 13% to 5%, so  for shipments leaving after the July 1st deadline, price increases of 8% should be expected.
